Breeze Parents/Players;
I have been asked to write this letter to share information with you on the California Breeze Softball Organization. The California Breeze has been providing quality softball in the Sacramento area since our founding in 1985. Our mission is;
California Breeze Softball Organization is an affiliate of ASA/USA, PGF, and Triple Crown Softball, the National Governing Bodies of Softball in the United States. California Breeze Softball Organization is a non-governmental and non-profit organization. We are staffed by volunteers dedicated to the advancement of softball at all levels of play. Our 12U, 13U, 14, 16U, and 18G teams are coached my Non-Parents or former Breeze players and provide some of the best coaching in California. Our funds go to the administration of activities and other related events that benefit our team membership. California Breeze Softball Organization is responsible for all financial obligations in the operation of the program. This organization is self-supporting and does not receive any sponsorship funds from National ASA/USA Softball.
Our organization is comprised of eight teams ranging in age from 9 to 18, and we have helped our young ladies gather over 2.5 million dollars in college scholarships in our 37 year history. We have players playing throughout the United States, and many now are College and High School coaches and teachers. Breeze teaches these young players that teamwork and competition is a vital part of softball as well as our day to day life. Many of our current players are involved in many different types of leadership roles in their schools from student government to Girl Scouts.
As general manager I firmly believe in developing our leaders of tomorrow and the following section is used often to develop our players in the game of softball.
"There is a difference between leadership and management. Leadership is of the spirit, compounded of personality, vision, and training. Its practice is an art. Management is the science of the mind. Managers are necessary -leaders are indispensable."
1. Leaders help people succeed.
2. Set goals anyone can understand; state them simply.
3. Set High Standards: "Good enough" is not good enough. Only the best succeed in today's competitive arena; leaders must also meet the same high standards.
4. There is always room for improvement. Everyone must be encouraged to constantly seek ways to improve their skills and attitude.
5. A leader takes charge. Have a plan and implement it.
6. Give credit where credit is due. You may lay the foundation, but the bricks and mortar are always the products of your players and parent’s efforts.
7. Demonstrate the virtue of loyalty. Both up and down loyalty are an essential virtue of a successful leader.
8. Step up to responsibility and accountability; if your team fails you’ve failed to lead.
9. Do what is right. Develop, express, and live by a well-grounded set of values.
I declare under the penalty of perjury of the laws of the state of California that the foregoing is true and correct. This declaration was executed on August 19. 2015, in Sacramento, CA.
Sincerely;
Donald E. Mashburn
